A Time of Revival
I have heard it preached, taught, and people have prayed for a revival. We can surely see that it is needed as many of us face devastating trauma in our lives, i.e., loss of jobs, homes in foreclosure, premature death of loved ones, upheaval of all types in our family and with our friends, continuous failing and falling of the church, and the deliberate attacks against God. Yes, I can see that if not now then when, and plead that we have a revival. A revival is needed where we of like minds come together and truly revive our spirits, pray for our loved ones, and truly seek God’s face that our young people live and not die, that God prospers us, that we are delivered from confusion, strife and jealousy, and hear the Word of God preached and taught for real. The type of revival I am speaking of calls for Pastors, Preachers, Teachers (The Elect) of God to come together and really host a revival of a magnitude that is truly worthy of God. We have seen individual revivals in the churches, but not of the level where people of all denominations and religious persuasion have come together to truly seek God for the good of the whole. Now my good friend Webster describes a revival as: 1.Webster Dictionary gives the following meaning of revival: a.The act or an instance of reviving. b.The condition of being revived.
2.A restoration to use, acceptance, activity, or vigor after a period of obscurity or quiescence. a.A time of reawakened interest in religion. b.A meeting or series of meetings for the purpose of reawakening religious faith, often characterized by impassioned preaching and public testimony. I believe the Children of Israel must have felt this need when in bondage; and after many days, months and years of crying out to God; they truly felt the outpouring of the Holy Spirit when they became one people, on one accord, and together sought God in the land of Egypt. There is no doubt about it God does bless the masses. How long has it been since you actually received a Word from God? Are you in a dead church preaching to a dead people? Has the vision long been dead, and now it needs to be revived? Has it all just become dogma without any hope? Have you been so beaten and broken until the sheep are running the Shepherd? It is now time to take back what Satan has stole from us. These were an oppressed people; the people of Israel, who faced opposition from those who had rule over them; defeated and oppressed these people, sought the face of God. Being faced with a man who defied God and refused to believe that these people should be freed, the people of Israel continued to seek God for freedom for they knew God, and believed He would eventually answer them. Do you realize that God had to send someone to speak with the children of Israel before He freed them? They had to go through a process. Moses had to come with instructions from God, and he had to be heard over the cries of those who believed they knew everything, the people who refused to change, the lost and downtrodden, the broken and beaten, and the enemies of God who lived with the people of Israel, and those who lived in Pharaoh’s camp. Rarely has anyone defied God as blatantly as Pharaoh did when he refused to let the people of Israel leave the land of Egypt. His contempt for the God of Israel was open and it was arrogant. When requested by Moses and Aaron, at the command of God, to allow Israel to leave Egypt, Pharaoh replied bluntly, ''Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go'' (Exodus 5: 1, 2). And indeed he did not. Throughout nine of the worst disasters any Egyptian could imagine, Pharaoh refused to bow before the mighty God who brought these plagues upon him. It took a tenth plague, involving the death of his own firstborn son, to break his pride. And even then, as soon as the immediate crisis was over, he changed his mind and sent his army after Israel. The very least we can say about this man is that he was extraordinarily strong-willed. Anyone who can hold out in rebellion against God as long as he did is no ordinary rebel (Exodus 10: 1, 2). But as shocking as Pharaoh's rebellion was, a similar stubbornness is at the root of every person's sin. When we disobey what we know to be God's will, we are saying by our actions, ''Not Thy will, but mine be done.'' Sin is always a refusal to acknowledge God. It is a declaration of our independence, a stiff-necked resistance to God's sovereignty. And as long as we hold out in this resistance, God will be asking us, as He asked Pharaoh, ''How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me?'' The tempter's argument is that we don't need to humble ourselves. Adam and Eve found the ''courage'' to defy God only after being led to believe they could get away with it (Genesis 3: 1-8). Satan had said, in effect, ''Stand up and take care of yourselves. Don't let God interfere with anything you really want.'' Once they imagined that such a rebellion could succeed, sin was not far behind. So from the beginning, sin has always disguised itself as strength. The only real strength in the world, however, is that which the devil denies: a simple willingness to acknowledge God. There does come a time when we must face those who have brought us to oppression, those who have turned from God to their own devices, and who defy the Will of God. Only through these types of revivals, our seeking God’s face, our truly asking for forgiveness of sin do we overcome our pains, and dramas of life. Revivals are needed throughout this land and all over the world so that we can see the goodness of God in the land of the living. He is our Rock and our Salvation, God is our Jehovah Jireh, He is our waters of living water, our Rose of Sharon, and our way of escape. If you have not considered a Revival, I suggest that you gather together and seek God, and allow the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to revive you as in the day of the Pentecost. Reconnect with God today and allow Him to bring healing and restoration to your very soul, your church, your family and friends, and your community and nation. The Bible tells us that it is good when men come together in fellowship. I want to encourage you today to begin to have Revivals, not just individual church revivals, but people revivals. Call, text and email your friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances, colleagues and say to them let us have a real Revival. Remember you are not in pain alone, but someone is hurting as well. The Bible says, “As long as it is called today, we should encourage each other.” We can, and we must through prayer, preaching and teaching, through revival. May God provide His Blessings to each of you today and revive and restore you. |
